Bearings

Postby BayBeeKitty on 08 Feb 2010, 09:38

Ok, I have my skates.
I don't want to ruin my wheels on the sidewalk and i can't go to the rink every time I want to skate.
So I want to get some wheels nicer wheels to trade out for when i do skate in the rink.

My trouble isn't finding the wheels i need, but I don't know what kind of bearings to get...as in what size.....

Hello,

What kind of bearings do you have on your other wheels? If you want good bearings at a decent price, I would buy Bones Redz bearings. They're better than any KWIK ABEC bearings, regardless of what anyone says!! >_<"... If price isn't an issue, I would go with Bones SWISS or Bones Ceramic ($$$$). The magical part is they are all standard sizes for skates.

I hope that helps!

Well, not particularly. But thats cause I wasn't clear. there is a choice of 8mm and 7mm and I don't know what it means. I didn't know if that would effect whether it went into the wheels or not. Do all bearings go in all wheels? Is the Bearing size in reference to fitting into the wheel itself.

I have never even thought about it before. It is new to me...I always thought you just stuck the wheel right on the skate...I didn't know you needed a second part...><

Thank you very much though ^^

Hello again!

From what I understand, the diameter of all bearings for skates are the same. The difference between the 7mm and 8mm refers to the size of the hole in the middle of the bearing and tells you what size axle the bearings will fit. As far as I know, most quad skates for derby use 7mm.. but then again that all depends on the type of axle.. I wish I could be of more help!

Good luck!!
